When orders are injected from Tableside Order & Pay into the Square KDS, the status of the ticket will be updated to the equivalent status in Tableside Order & Pay, based on the fulfillment method.
Status mapping from Square to Tableside Order & Pay will occur at the order level, not the item level; if some items and not all are marked as complete in the Square Expeditor or POS, the entire order in Tableside Order & Pay will be marked as complete.
For example, if an order is submitted with 1 Beer and 1 Sandwich but the Square expediter is only showing either the beer or the sandwich, due to a filter on the Category, if the expediter marks the visible item as complete, Square will produce a status change for the whole order and then subsequently mark the order as complete in Tableside Order & Pay and triggering the appropriate guest notifications.
Square has the following backend status values for when an order is injected from Tableside Order & Pay to Square:
PROPOSED (New)
- This indicates that the order has been received in the Square KDS
RESERVED (In Progress)
- This indicates that the order is currently in process.
PREPARED (Ready)
- This indicates that the fulfillment has been prepared.
COMPLETED (Picked Up)
- This indicates that the fulfillment was successfully completed.
CANCELED
- This indicates that the fulfillment was canceled.
FAILED
- This indicates that the fulfillment failed to be completed, but was not explicitly canceled.
